SMALL BAJAN COMPANY AIMS BIG WITH NEW MEDIA TECHNOLOGY

BARBADOS - (May 4, 2010) - Positioning the island of Barbados as a hub for digital media andBarbadian entrepreneur Andrew Jemmott technology industries in the Caribbean is the aim of an emerging information technology company.

Barbadian entrepreneur Andrew Jemmott, chairman and CEO of The Caribbean Streaming Network (CSN), said the world is driven by digital media and emerging technologies such as social networking and mobile distribution platforms, so Barbados with its solid technological infrastructure, is well placed to take advantage of the numerous opportunities in this field.

"There is an entire generation known as 'Generation Y' for whom the internet, mobile connectivity and on-demand content are essential," asserted Jemmott, "and CSN will feed their insatiable appetite for digital content, by providing immediately available content on-the go."

"Our products and services are geared towards providing the consumer access to the vibrant cultures as well as the various business, hospitality and entertainment services that the Caribbean has to offer," he added.

A member of the family of the newly launched Barbados Entrepreneurs' Venture Capital Fund and owned by local parent company Icon Studios, CSN capitalizes on the exciting developments in new media by offering rich online content in the form of music videos, concerts, festivals, pulling the Caribbean together with a cross cultural delivery of web content that showcases Caribbean culture to the world. "Our goal is to capture, catalogue and engage the world with rich online content highlighting interaction with website users," noted Jemmott, whose alma mater is Queens College in Barbados where he developed his initial interest in digital technology.

CSN's services include digital marketing of live webcasts, streaming of audio and video content, marketing materials, real time traffic reports, artiste licensing and digital distribution, a user profiles database and streaming platform development.

Valuing the importance of staying on the cutting edge of digital media and emerging technologies in the Caribbean and consistently providing high quality, authentic Bajan and Caribbean content to the world via the internet, Jemmott believes CSN's success will help to establish Barbados both as a centre for the development of small businesses and as the hub for the digital media and technology industries in the Caribbean. "CSN's success will also help to direct more global consumers to the Caribbean and to the various content and services that the region has to offer," he predicted.

CSN's management team which includes directors Anton Shepherd, Cleveland Allen and Dr. Rean Griffith is currently being mentored under the CBET Shepherding ModelTM which comprises three elements - an entrepreneur with an idea that has the potential for global expansion; timely cash advances for business plan development and implementation as well as quick response to investment requests; and a shepherd (business mentor), supported by a team of business advisors, to help the entrepreneur nurture the business idea into a successful reality.

"We believe that the shepherding model will not only assist CSN's growth from a small to big business, but it will also help to prove the viability of non-traditional industries, encouraging further support and development of such industries within the region," said Jemmott.

Other CSN products and services include webcasting, e-commerce and m-commerce, offline data storage, promotion, social marketing/ product groups, social behavioral research, rental of high-end equipment, new media stills and clips, Integrated New Media (live chat, player window) interfaces for computers and other communication devices.
